Cystic Acne

Filed under: Acne — admin @ 9:00 am

Cystic acne is probably the most painful and troublesome of all acne forms since it is a deep skin layer infection that breaks out in the form of red pustules filled with pus. Scientific investigations could not come up with a unilateral explanation of the causes behind cystic acne: hormonal imbalances, dirt accumulation in the pores, age, post-pregnancy modifications and other situations have been identified so far.

Some experts even claim that cystic acne is favored by heredity, which makes some people genetically predisposed to developing this skin condition. Mention must be made that acne is not a chronic condition, but a temporary phase that with proper treatment and adequate care can be cured and eliminated. The mistake many people make is to squeeze the pustules that are so unaesthetic and painful, without knowing that they risk to get permanent scars because of this popping.

A very often encountered problem is the lack of efficiency of over the counter ointments for the treatment of cystic acne. The explanation for the problem comes from the impossibility of topical cures to treat damaged skin. Moreover, cystic acne also causes the formation of skin pits that remain as permanent scars in the tissues. Acne as such develops when the pores are clogged and blackheads get formed; without proper treatment the condition could aggravate particularly when people don’t know how to care for their skin under the circumstances.

Cystic acne gets its name from the cysts that get formed under the red swollen pustules. Given the fact that this acne type is the severest, the therapeutic approach is equally intense. Specific chemicals and medications are used so as to reduce the number of pustules and cysts in the shortest time possible. A good and relevant example here is Benzoyl Peroxide, a topical medicine with a pretty harsh impact on the skin. The application should be done on a doctor’s recommendation and following specific usage instructions.

A pretty often mistake in the treatment of cystic acne is the elimination of skin oils to the extent that the acne gets even more serious. Doctors often prescribe oral antibiotics too when the acne break out is very intense and difficult to control with topical remedies. Cystic acne usually appears on the face and it can have various degrees of severity from individual to individual. The peeling formula for instance is highly practiced in the gradual elimination of the cysts. This is in fact a form similar to steam treatment that has so far enjoyed a serious level of success among other cosmetic remedies for the elimination of acne.
